Purebred Afghan Hounds, home raised and ready to show

About

Early on before we ever bred a single dog we asked ourselves, “What kind of breeder do we want to be?”  It was something we thought long and hard about because it would impact where we would ultimately buy our foundation from.  We decided to take a more preservationist approach for our breeding program  because of its diversified nature opposed to niche market breeding.  We like breeding for the whole dog opposed to breeding dogs that fit into boxes and can only compete successfully within just one or two types of competitive performance events.  Over the years, our dogs have excelled within multiple types of competitive events.  We strive to have this kind of diversity within our litters because it makes for a more fulfilling journey for potential performance dog enthusiasts.  Think of us as the mind, body and soul breeders of Afghan Hounds.

Our bloodline is focused on Aries, Quom, Gazon and Coastwind/Jubilan.  These bloodlines are the essence of what our breeding program is.  We are fortunate, to say the least, and hope that we are able to maintain the integrity of these great bloodlines and do them justice with our selective breeding process. Each one of these bloodlines are proven world wide to produce generation after generation.  Each one also compliments the other in positive ways.  Collectively making our gene pool a genetic goldmine for high quality intelligent dogs that can participate in any performance event your heart desires.

Breeding and participating in competitive performance events has far exceeded our expectations.  The dream of it all is not as good as the reality of it.  There have been so many magical moments since we started on this endeavor.  Every single success is different from the last and so are the people involved.  It started with our mentors. 3 totally different people with their own success stories but they all looked at breeding dogs from a different perspective which was correct for what they wanted to achieve.  Getting this kind of diverse education in the breed is one of the most important exercises we were exposed to when we first started.  Another important rule of thumb we were taught is to eliminate 50% of your litter from the gene-pool in order to maintain a high level of quality.  This practice is very difficult because you will end up eliminating some cool individuals but it’s key to recognize that all dogs are not breeding stock.  It’s a practice we strictly employ and never change our minds about it.

Our joy and love for Afghan Hounds grows more with every single day and we are thrilled with our dogs achievements and the people we have met along the way who believed in what we are doing as breeders. We could not do it without our extended Xzotika Family and all of the joy we share!
